Vice President, Development, United Way
Brie Griset Smith is the Vice President of Development at Orange County United Way (OCUW). In this position, Ms. Griset Smith oversees OCUW’s annual campaign effort of $15 million and leads the Development Team & Campaign Cabinet in partnership with the President & CEO and Campaign Chair to acquire critical annual support to advance its mission of improving lives by mobilizing the caring power of Orange County to strengthen our community.
Ms. Griset Smith has 14 years of campaign experience with United Way, creating self-sufficient lives for individuals and families. Prior to joining the Orange County United Way, Brie worked in a variety of positions at the United Way of Greater Los Angeles in both Resource Development and Major Gifts Fundraising efforts.
Through her dedication to nonprofits and in collaboration with her outstanding colleagues in the nonprofit and philanthropic communities, as well as with the support from OCUW’s esteemed corporate partners, Board Members, volunteers and dedicated staff, during her career with United Way Ms. Griset Smith has acquired $100 million dollars for children, families, and individuals by mobilizing our corporate community to meet their most basic human needs—food, shelter and medical care—while creating pathways to self-sufficient futures through education and training.
Ms. Griset Smith also supports the United Way Worldwide (UWW) LIVE UNITED movement, recently serving as one of six United Way Staff Spirit of America Award Judges (UWW’s most prestigious annual corporate award) as well as the lead to the West & Mountain Regions of the U.S. as a member of the UWW Fortune 500 Taskforce, whose main objective is to improve how the United Way can better meet the needs of corporate partners around our shared interests in driving community change. Ms. Griset Smith also serves as the Co-Chair of the California Corporate Collaborative through the United Ways of California to create greater philanthropic value for United Way’s corporate partners across the state.
Ms. Griset Smith obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Pepperdine University. Brie enjoys spending time with her husband Peter, volunteering and bringing community solutions to the Orange County community as she is a fifth generation Orange County native.
